This is the first newsletter of the New Year! Trusting that all had a blessed festive season and a joyous New Year.
Here's just a short recap of the past few months
PJ (my trendsetter) and I ran 5 lifeskills courses in two different schools from July-Nov 2003 namely, Parkwood Primary and Hyde Park Primary. The classes had an average of 46 children per class and although it had the potential to get out of hand, God helped us to keep it all together. The courses went very well and the kids were so sad to see us go. We also had the opportunity to run leadership workshops on Hyde Parks prefect camp in September. Thanks to Cindy Foster who helped out in the last semester.
I had the privilege of co-ordinating my first Mini Camp in October out at Camp Faraway in Noordhoek with 76 kids. We praise God for the 10 commitments that we had on that camp. Most of the children had some Christian input in their lives and I was amazed at some of the questions that they came up with. One 11 year old boy asked me a question on free will and predestination?? Topics that I only dealt with in Second Year Systematic Theology and I dont even know the answers to that yet!
The theme of our teen camp for this year was Whos Almighty? Based on the movie Bruce Almighty, we had a really good time challenging the teens to who or what is Almighty in their lives. The teens had a blast of a time, they did a community clean up in Mitchells Plain, had Good Hope FM broadcast from the campsite, and enjoyed the adventure activities such as the slingshot, trapeze and zip-line. We are thankful for the 12 campers that came to know God. I am sure that the angels were rejoicing in heaven. We also had a great set of leaders that really gave their all. So, thanks a lot guys.
This is just few of the highlights, but please know that all this would not have been possible without the faithful prayer and financial support of supporters such as yourself. So thank you for making this all happen!
